Now for almost two weeks we have seen the issue of Islam and Mohammad hate movie developed and supported by right wing Islam hate group arousing protest worldwide against the US.
The same right wing hate groups are also bombarding the news blogs and Internet with excuses that their movie was freedom of speech.
Well there is a difference between freedom of speech and spreading lies with an intention to spread and arouse hate or present the speech in a manner that attacks a whole group of people to condemn them all and look to subject them to treated unfairly in their public lives.
There are several precedences in which hate speech has been challenged and legislation's have been to put in place to stop such happenings.
This has happened prior to second world war in which fascist in Europe abused their power to target people based on ethnic and racial background. They used propaganda by spreading hate literature with lies and rumors against others who were a minority and were perceived as villains in the society they had contributed with service.
Today we see groups similar to racist Nazis on the rise in US, Canada, Europe. There philosophy is the same as before but the target is a new group of people - the new immigrants from Muslim Countries and in general an attack on their fundamental religious values to incite hate against them. Although these right wing groups are not running governments but have received financial, material help in the form of weapons from special interests to push both politically and possibly militarily their aims of controlling the media to spread hate against Muslims.
A concerted effort to use media such as Internets facilities on you tube, movies, newspaper, radio to spread constantly messages of hate against Muslims is used by attacking their basic belief's. The militants have used their militaristic power to attack and vandalize places of worship and even individuals from the Muslimcommunity they think are undesirable people in their racist opinion.
It seems that the right wing militant extremist groups see only a black and white picture of this world.
Freedom of speech is one thing. Hate literature that incites feelings of hate by spreading falsehood, rumor, about a people or a group of people or their religious role model leader's character is another thing and does not come under the freedom of speech. It becomes a hate crime and they should be charged for hurling lies that instigates others by spreading hate.
I therefore recommend that all the hate literature coming from right wing militant extremist groups that attacks the basic belief's of another group or organization or a people must be legislated and stopped and people creating such movies, literature, radio shows must be charged and prosecuted for hate crimes.
On the other hand criticizing religious or other practices in the name of religion that are against human values, violate basic human rights, encourage violence against others is a reasonable criticism and falls within the realm of not only free speech and should be protected free speech as such.
